I ahve to tell you that their Match ammo is not in my scope as of yet,
but the COLT Defense ammo is both hot and accurate.
Shooting the .38 Special +P reminded me of when I shot the KLCR with
125 grain .357 Magnum ammo.
Accuracy: while I only shot a 10 rounds, they did make a nice cluster in the
target's head..all Double Action only fire.
The raw power is there, Go For it!
I really had no idea what to expect from the DT Equalizer 9mm load.
Well, it was both load an interesting.
Recoil felt like there were two bullets coming out, but not bad at all.
My first shot went to POA, but the next 3 made a unique group.
One of my late friends who lived in Texas, shot Rabbits all day long with his 9mm.
This load would be excellent for that, or for other carry once you got the hang of it.

Next time I'll have shot some of the .45 ACP in their COLT line.

COLT 9mm Commander?
I've had few 1911s in my lifetime.
All of them Commander length guns, and a couple I should have kept.
Dan Wessons are nice, but more expensive than some other brands.
My preference for a Commander, comes from the time spent with my very first
semi-auto handgun, a Series-80 Combat Commander in .45 ACP caliber.
We could only carry .357 revolvers on duty, but some of us opted for the 1911
or even Star .45 autos.
The only company that was out of the box for ammo, was Super-Vel, and I don't
know if they were in production in the mid-80s or not.
Duty ammo was either Winchester 158 grain lead JHP...the FBI LOAD, or the
very impressive Federal 125 grain JHP that would later be named as The King
of the Streets, due to it's awesome stopping power record, even from shorter
barrel guns like the then popular Model 66 Snubs.
Thus, it was unheard of at my first department for one to carry reloads or other brands
of ammo when off-duty, other than Remington, CCI-Speer, Federal or Winchester.
Some of us with 1911s were content with the CCI 200 grain FLYING ASHCAN JHP
that had a wide mouth and deep cavity, but also heavy recoil.
Other (like myself) liked the faster Winchester 185 grain SILVERTIP JHP.
Well.. fast forward about 40 years, and there is an abundance of duty and off-duty
ammuntion to choose from.
One of those is the longstanding and prolific DoubleTapAmmo. Net
These days I like the idea of carrying a .45, but they usually weigh more when loaded
and upon my person, than a comparable 9mm.
Recoil is also a consideration, as in the case of a short-lived Glock 36, just brutal
on my aging hands and arms with any ammo I could put in it.
I'm very happy with 9 rounds of 9mm in a 1911 Commander, thanks.
Lower recoil impulse, and cheaper to shoot than .45 ACP or even .38 Special..
as I no longer reload, and I am not one to ever use reloads for defensive purposes.
Colt's 2016 LW Commander offers a 9=1 capcity of 9mm Luger or even 9mm+P
or +P+ ammo.
I also prefer a gun with a firing pin safety, so the LW with their
Series-80 FPS makes the grade in my book. I do know that Kimbers and other
1911 do offer some sort of FPS as well.
looks to be ideal for me, but I don't know what ammo that I would want to use for carry?
A: It would be DOUBLE TAP
B: No lighter than their 77 grain JHP.
C: It would have to feed from the box in the stock Colt 9mm.
D: I might endure an initial bobble, but be for darned sure that
it would feed 100% from round two and onward.
One option might be the DT 124 grain Bonded Defense:
I carry this in my PPS M2, but there are other Double Tap loads
that I've carried in it, or might in the near future.
Their new COLT custom ammo line COLT Defnse Ammunition, sure looks promising.
If one look closer, you can see the striations on the bullet itself. These are more apparent on their
.45 ACP load.
Should a person need or want to go heavier. There is the DT 147grain Bonded Defense (Gold Dot)
JHP:
Along with somehting I've never actually been able to get from Mike and company.
The 165 grain EQUALIZER. This will put two projectiles on target.
I'm really excited to test this out.
Any of these, including the DT 115 grain Bonded Defense load, would be great candidates for a
1911 Commander in 9 x19 caliber.

10mm Spike!
With the recent surge of 10mm pistols and people adopting the cartridge.
DOUBLE TAP AMMO has new loads for those of us veterans, and those
that are new to the mighty TEN,
which to me, always had far more power....
than the hottest .40 S&W or .45 ACP loads.
I'm no longer shooting or reloading practice ammo for 10mm, and my DT ammo pile is
long gone. 9mm, .45 and .45 Colt is what I'm not these days,
Dear kevin rees-CZ GUNSTUFFS,
We finally have 10mm and 40S&W 200gr Controlled Expansion™ JHP lineup in stock!
We redesigned the bullet to maximize not only performance in 10mm, but 40SW too!
Now it is a true hunting and self defense bullet round that will expand every time even in
short bbls while holding its weight and puching deep even in longer bbls!
And definitely don't forget to take advantage of our Spring

Just because the CZ75 inspired (copy) Witness 10mm wasn't a 'real deal" CZ
product, didn't mean that it wouldn't keep up with my CZs.
The 10mm also shot very flat, up to 100 yards if i wanted to stretch it out that far.
Great gun and awesome caliber with less recoil than one can imagine...combined with
Double Tap's legendary quality control and accuracy.

Rainy Days.
Well, the new CZ-USA /Dan Wesson catlaogs for 2018 have been out for a while.
I've seen them at various food stores and I think even Wal-Mart.
Very impressive looking.
Two pistols that I'd like to have this year are their new VIGIL series Commander.
Available in both .45 and 9mm Luger.
I'd pick the 9mm as it is cheaper for me to shoot and easier on my hands as well.
A person could always buy the full-sized or suppressor ready VIGIL in .45 ACP...if
that suited them.
Another would be the basic black CZ P10-C. I've tlaked about getting a P10-C
for a test pistol since this time last year, but have yet to do so.
Most testers seem to have the FDE version.
Another would be their P10-C in Urban Gray.
However, I really have no need for a suppressed pistol, or the added expense of buying a supressor.
Once would go on my Scorpion, if I decided to go that route.
With no actual Sub-Compact 9mms for 2018 excep the RAMI?RAM BD series.
I'm kind of interested in the new Walter PPQ SC LE.
Phosporous sights and 3 magazines. The SC LE would be lighter than my RAMI,
but a striker-fired trigger like the P10-C, or even P10-S that we have yet to see
materialize this year.
Even though.. I'd rather carry a CZ product. Walthers are top-quality firearms.

Season's Greetings!
Wishing all CZ and DW fans across the world a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
There are some new suprises at CZ-USA for 2018.
I can't wait to see their new catalog and the new catalogs from CZUB.
Word is that some of the new models of the P10-Cs are already in the pipeline.
These would be the guns with actual tritium night sights, but nothing concrete on that as of yet.
There are also a few new goodies for the EVO 3 Scorpion.
Now that Ive had to retire my RAMI ( Its 14 years old, and I can no longer pull the trigger in DA mode) I'm even more excited to see what variants of the P-10-C will be coming out in the new year.
