Scoping Your CZ or other Rimfire.

What seemed like both a long winter, but also a short one for us here in Eastern Washington
and Central Idaho.

Not a very cold winter to say the least and the Gonzaga Bulldogs went farther into the
Sweet 16 than any other Spokane based team in quite a while.

This means that my cabin fever wasn't burning a hole in my soul for Spring to arrive, but I still wanted to get out and stretch my legs (so to speak) with some informal shooting.

The real problem?

My CZ 455 LUX in .22 Magnum with the spare .22 LR barrel is very, very nice, but the
.22 barrel has no sights.

Some sort of quality scope will be needed in or for me to use the .22 barrel when I decide
to switch barrels.

As a kid growing up in Eastern Oregon.

My exposures to hunting rifle and .22 rifle scopes was limited.

Guys had Weavers or Tascos, with Redfields as well..

If you had the money...
a Leupold with that gold ring sat upon your rifle.

Both men and women bragged about their World Class scopes and if there were
Swarovski or Zeiss scopes, nobody I knew ever talked about them.

Later on in my early 20s.

One brand of scope(s) that I did encounter after establishing pen pals in the Republic
of South Africa, was called NIKKO STIRLING.

SA was in turmoil back then, but those Hunters that I knew through letters were
using these scopes as Leupold and others were cruelly expensive back then or
some brands fell under the trade embargo(s )of that era.

Another thing of interest was that they choose CZ or BRNO made rifles from
.22 to 375 H&H for most of their shooting.

They also used Suppressed /Silencer equipped rifles long before the recent craze
swept the states.

Still, those that I knew there used the Nikko Stirling scopes and other gear as
advertised in their gun magazine: SA Man Magnum, that is still in business
there. Here is my FEB 2015 issue:
In retrospect, other than South Africa, or maybe New Zealand.

A person was
out of luck for that brand of optics.

I really didn't know that they were Made in Japan, or that I could probably have one
sent to from the RSA, but would it get lost on the long boat trip or be damaged
as well?

When the internet came into being, I thought that I might get to finally purchase a
Nikko scope.

Well the years flew by and in 1996 the political climate changed and  RSA was reborn.

However..I still lusted after a Nikko Sterling scope.

After the year 2000 I was using medium priced Burris scopes and those from Simmons..
until I moved to Washington state from Idaho.

My CZs and other Hunting rifles were sold off one by one and so were my scopes.

Well, come to present day..

Nikkos are available (or have been for a while) now from Legacy Sports as their importer.

I like the looks of the Nikko Stirling TARGET MASTER line.

I'm not into Bench Rest or any type of competition shooting.

No need for even 100 yard shots with my CZ 455 LUX.

The Nikko 4x14 with the 1 inch tube and 44mm objective..seems like it would be ideal for my paper and soda can punching
@50 yards or less.

MIDWAY has this scope for a cool $199  and you also get Free Shipping.

However, the

Nikko Stirling Mountmaster AO 4-12x50

is half the price (Amazon) and is a dedicated Rimfire/Airsoft Nikko scope.

That 50mm objective would let in a lot of light.

After I pay off my recent vet bill, I hope to buy the Target Master  or the MountMaster and some medium or even high
CZ rings as well.

Safe Shooting:)

CZ's 455 LUX in .22 Magnum and .22 LR

My new beauty as sent to me by the forum.
Slick as snot and really shoots nice.
I hope to put on the spare .22 LR barrel and scope it this Spring.
RAMI SEASON is Coming!
The weather is warming up for some people and I'm getting more RAMI and CZ rifle/pistol inquiries from folks who either own CZs, or are interested in buying such.
I tell them for their first RAMI, or gun in general... to Buy the very safe RAMI BD.
The decock lever is very easy to operate and unlike some decockers, is small and out of the way. After to shoot and wish to lower the hammer, just depress the lever and re-holster, ect. The only real problem with the RAMI BD, is that even though I tell people to buy one/them and have been shooting a regular RAMI for almost 12 years..
When it comes to the RAMI BD..I don't have one:( I'm hoping to change that in the next couple of weeks if they are ins stock and CZ-USA can skip one out to me for evaluation. "Keepin' it CZimple!" KEV

su·per·la·tive

of an adjective or adverb) expressing the highest or a very high degree of a quality (e.g., bravest, most fiercely ). While some might not agree that DAN WESSON are of that description, I've liked them since before CZ-USA took over. DAN WESSON CBOB:Being a COLT 1911 guy up to then, my first DW 1911 was a stainless CBOB with Hakan Pek custom grips.
It shot great, but I did find very quickly I might add, that it was pretty heavy for CCW use. Myself, having come away from 2 years of carrying the big 97B .45 auto. Just couldn't grin and bear the weight of the CBOB, no matter how much I liked it and how sweet it shot for both myself and Nancy.
Cheap Blazer and even Wolf ammo couldn't choke it, and Double Tap was accurate to the extreme!
FAST FORWARD: About6 months ago I had a good look at my small collection of pistols and revolvers. I'd went the gauntlet from Glocks, to Rugers, to CZs, and Magnum Research (MDE, Baby Eagle) to no avail. My early years with a COLT Combat Commander that I carried off-duty as a young patrolman, seemed to have imprinted something in my brain, some 30 years later! I could (and still can) remember shooting it in archaic combat matches and cleaning the clocks of revolver guys and most of those with 1911s ( remember the STAR PDs, I wish I had one now days) and other semi-autos. The hot ammo to have back then was the newly introduced 185 grain Winchester Silvertip JHP. No feeding issues with my stock as stove COLT, that never saw bullet it didn't like. Well, marriage a kid, a divorce,,,bye by gun collection...you know the rest. THESE DAYS: The pics of the DAN WESSON GUARDIANS ( 9mm, .38 Super, and .45 ACP) take me back a bit to that COLT.
A COLT Lightweight Commander would be my second choice, but a DAN WESSON will usually have more features and according to most experts on the 1911..better quality control. More to follow my friends!

New models for 2015!

HI guys. Among the new models for 2015 in the Dan Wesson and CZ/CZ-USA product lines. There is the Very First pistol from CZ that's Made In America. A basic, no- frills 1911-A1!:
There, a clearly some upgrades over your GI Model 1911, or 1911-A1 pistols, but the $849 Retail price makes it far more affordable for most folks than a DAN WESSON 1911. Here is what CZ-USA has to say about it: "2015 brings the launch of the first pistol made in the USA that bears the CZ name. The CZ 1911 A1 is an homage to the past, a 5” government sized model built as a modern incarnation of the original 1911 A1. That original was adopted into US service in 1924, ‘improving’ on John Moses Browning’s original design. Our version makes several small ‘improvements’ as well, swapping the checkered plastic grips for checkered walnut, adding serrated slide stop, magazine catch and mainspring housing and using a stainless steel barrel. For the sake of the shooter, we elected to forgo the lanyard loop, and added a taller set of sights that are easier to use, with the front dovetailed in so that it can be swapped more easily. Though there are a number of changes, we feel the CZ 1911 is still true enough to the original service pistol to wear the A1 name."
I also like the new VALKYRIE CCO type pistol as well.
A modified CCO or just a new pistol all together?
Like with the 1911-A1, it will be neat to see how this pistol is accepted by the DW or 1911 community. The beautiful Dan Wesson 715 .357 Magnum revolver is also on the 2015 New Products page.
I hope to find out more about these new additions and those like the 75B 40th Anniv pistol and Scorpion 9mm semi-auto. Until next time! Kev

Dan Wesson's New Model 715 .357 Magnum Video: Jason Morton-CZ-USA.

My first handgun was a Dan Wesson .357 with a 2 inch barrel. Years later I would pick up a pristine 715 and load it up with Remington's 125 grain .357 Magnum load. This one had a 4 inch barrel and was a true tack driver. I carried it off duty for a while before going back to my CZ75. A good friend (Las Vegas) still has it. Granted, those who know me know that I've never had any luck with S&W products: auto or revolver, but my 2 DW revolvers were stellar performers! The newer 715 sports a 6 inch barrel, but looks to live up to Dan Wesson quality and accuracy. I'm no longer tasked with confronting armed criminals on a daily basis, or any day really. However.. new DW 715 just might be a good fit for me in 2015:)

The 2014 P-07 in South Africa. Some more shooting with my P-07 Duty.

It seems that these guys are liking the 2014 P-07 as well: http://www.gunsite.co.za/ (linked in the LINK section)============+++++++++++ According to my information.. all of the P-07 Duty pistols imported to RSA were safety only. They say 2014 P07 ( no more DUTY in the title) has both the safety and decocker in the box.
No idea if they come with the decocker installed or not.
My friends there seem to be thrilled with a locally made hybrid IWB like the Crossbreed or SHTF GEAR holsters. =============================================================================================
I shot about 70 rounds of Remington 115 grain range ammo today. My fairly new P-07 Duty with CZ-USA installed night sights shot like a laser on the targets @15 yards.
I'm sure it would have grouped well at@25 yards, but I remain impressed so far. I can detect a definite reset click on the trigger, but once you get used to it you can make very precise shots.
This gun runs far, far, better than my first P-07 Duty. This gun with 9 rounds of the light DOUBLE TAP 115 gr. TAC-XP is actually lighter for me to carry than my alloy framed RAMI. Nice Nites! The nice and big NITES that seem to sit on a ledge, are more user friendly to my aged eyesight.
I do believe those of you looking to buy a B series gun, or the new and some say improved P-07 with the P-09 hammer and trigger will be getting solid guns. I'd still like to buy a .38 Super GUARDIAN as I'm old and miss my Colt Commander a bit, but the P-07 Duty is a worthy successor to my now over 10 year old RAMI. Go forth and ventilate!

Not much new these days. Looking forward to seeing what CZ and Dan Wesson will have in store for us fans in 2015. In the meantime, my now 10 year old RAMI, and my new CZ75 P-07 DUTY are perking along nicely. I've did a few holster reviews for SHTF GEAR products in the last 9 months, and the stuff is working splendid. The P-07 DUTY holster in a first generation hybrid IWB holster.
Mated with a High Noon or Kydex mag pouch... it carries really well. The new RAMI IWB holster (RAMI BD as well, but no RAMI P fits that I know of) is a generation 2 holster that features some improvements like adjustable retention.
My new belt with some brown clips makes for a gun that tucks right away until you want or need to draw.
I also have a SHTF GEAR Gen 2 IWB for my wife's Glock 42 .380.
Pretty cool and very slim and light to carry, even if it's not a CZ:)
